About Artistry Freelancing

Founded in 2013 by Arly Amaya, Artistry Freelancing is an independent creative practice in NYC working across fashion, sewing, soft construction, and creative development.

The practice supports designers, brands, artists, and creatives through sample development, small-scale production, creative consulting, and brand events and activations. From developing an early concept to refining a sample, navigating production, or creating a physical experience, Artistry Freelancing works closely with each client to develop ideas, solve technical challenges, and bring projects into physical form.

Artistry Freelancing is rooted in a hands-on approach to making and a belief in the value of collaboration. The practice continues to grow alongside the people and projects it works with, creating space for ideas to be developed, refined, and realized.

About the Founder

Arly Amaya is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, educator, and the founder of Artistry Freelancing. Her creative journey began at LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and continued into technical training in sewing and garment construction in El Salvador. That experience became an important foundation for her creative and professional practice and ultimately led her to pursue fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she earned a BFA in Fashion Design.

Arly’s career has developed through a combination of internships, freelance work, teaching, and hands-on experience in fashion and production. As her own practice grew, she began teaching sewing and sharing the technical knowledge she had developed throughout her journey. Her experience as a student and maker shaped a strong interest in creating opportunities for others to learn, build confidence, and develop their own creative skills.

Today, Arly is an FIT alumna and faculty member at Parsons, where she also serves as the Assistant Manager of the Sewing & Soft Construction team. Her work across education, freelance practice, and production continues to inform Artistry Freelancing and its approach to working with clients and students.

At the heart of both Arly’s practice and Artistry Freelancing is a commitment to making, learning, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing—using creative and technical expertise to help ideas move from concept to reality.
